Arts Lab 5.0: Violeta Roca, Spain - Month 5

This month I can say that I enjoyed so much. It’s been so much movement and very dynamic, with lots of different things happening. First of all, I’ve could recover a lot my energy after my friend visit, it made me so happy and I appreciated that a lot. Even though the JEMOM exhibition and preparation had been very weird and with not the best situation, also I was constantly thinking ethically if I should participate on it or not, finally I was happy of my work and the experience, even if it wasn’t with the best conditions. Just after the exhibition we had the mid term and I’ve really enjoyed going all of us together in a trip, but at the same time, it disappointed me the place and the fact of being inside a hotel 24/7. We’ve all had the feeling of very weird energies because of the place in general, and I felt I didn’t take advantage from the opportunity as much as I wanted to, there was some ways of doing some of the activities that I was thinking it would be better to do it in a different way, but at the same time other activities really helped me and I really enjoyed it. Also, it’s been really nice the next free days we’ve had for traveling, and we could discover more the city of Bucharest.

On the beginning of February we’ve been doing some caravans and also individual work for the last museum, it’s been very different and I don’t know if I like it because we felt the pressure of creating the artwork earlier than with the other museums, as we didn’t start with the residency, but at the same time I felt it was more chill as we’ve had more time to prepare and think about it. I’ve really liked the caravans, specific the visit to the old painter, it was very interesting and inspiring.

Now we started the residency in the school and I feel comfortable to don’t  worry about if I will have students or not, but at the same time I feel they are too many.

This month it’s also been full of cultural nights and it’s been nice and different. From the return of Bucharest I feel everyone started to be more aware that we don’t have much time left on this project, and we should enjoy every single moment here as it’s all full of learnings, experiences and special moments, so I've started to be more in the present moment and live more with what I have in the present.

After many days here, I’ve could discover some things about how I present myself to other  people that I wasn’t aware. At the same time here is so intense, we live many people together with any personal place to be some time alone, so sometimes I can get burn out from nowhere, but at the same time I feel that I’ve could create very valuable and nice relationships here and I am very happy for also having this  comfortable and welcoming place with so many people.

Violeta Roca is from Spain, and she is participating in a six-month volunteering program within Arts Lab 5.0, a project co-funded by the European Union through the European Solidarity Corps.
